{"id":841,"date":"2020-08-20T23:06:20","date_gmt":"2020-08-20T23:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/?p=841"},"modified":"2020-08-20T23:09:49","modified_gmt":"2020-08-20T23:09:49","slug":"tost-tsunoda-join-alphatauri-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/tost-tsunoda-join-alphatauri-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Tost: \u2018Very Talented\u2019 Tsunoda Will Join AlphaTauri in F1 Sooner or Later"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Scuderia AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost has described Yuki Tsunoda as a \u201cfantastic driver\u201d and said he will race for the F1 team \u201csooner or later\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with the Italian edition of Motorsport.com, Tost hailed the Japanese driver\u2019s performance in Formula 3 last year and said he is continuing to develop as a driver in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiaformula2.com\/\"><span style=\"color:#ffac00\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Formula 2<\/span><\/a> this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, Red Bull and Honda are supporting Tsunoda because he is a fantastic driver,\u201d Tost said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe is a very talented driver, he has so many qualities that he showed in Formula 3 last year and that he is showing again this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Continuing, Tost recalled some of Tsunoda\u2019s impressive performances in challenging circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/red-bull-replace-albon-vettel\/\"><span style=\"color:#ffac00\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Should Red Bull Replace Albon With Vettel?<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI remember the race in Austria, when he ran in wet track conditions. He was at the top of the leaderboard, he was leading the race, but due to a radio failure he was called to the pits too late to make the pit stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd anyway, he finished second. Then at Silverstone he won the race,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe is still improving his performance, he is becoming more and more experienced and I expect to have him, sooner or later, in AlphaTauri, clearly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Honda powers <a href=\"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/tag\/red-bull-racing\/\"><span style=\"color:#ffac00\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Red Bull Racing<\/span><\/a> and Scuderia AlphaTauri, and is likely to be pushing to get Tsunoda a seat in F1 with the junior team as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With teammate Pierre Gasly impressing so far this season, Russian driver Daniil Kvyat is the most likely of the two to make way for Tsunoda if he were to join the team next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Enjoyed reading this article?
