The 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix proved to be a weekend to forget for Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari, as the seven-time world champion endured one of his most difficult races since joining the team and was “downbeat” according to Martin Brundle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A disappointing qualifying session saw Hamilton eliminated in Q2 and starting 12th on the grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite his efforts, he made no progress during the race and finished in the same position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Self-Criticism and Post-Race Disappointment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hamilton did not hold back in assessing his performance<\/a>, describing himself as \u201cuseless\u201d and even suggesting that Ferrari might be better off replacing him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His frustration was clear as he lingered in his car after the race and skipped a stewards\u2019 meeting about a clash with Max Verstappen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former F1 driver Martin Brundle described the incident in his Sky Sports column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe sat in the car in parc ferme post-race for what seemed an age, was very downbeat in interviews again, and then declined to attend a stewards\u2019 enquiry about a rather ambitious move Max Verstappen made on him during the race in the blind and fast Turn 4, in which Lewis chose to drive off the road to avoid contact,\u201d Brundle wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brundle added that Hamilton \u201cdid not want to contest the incident\u201d and left the matter to his team, while Verstappen attended and avoided a penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking Ahead to the Summer Break<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With F1 now entering its summer break<\/a>, Hamilton made it clear that he intends to use the time to reset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a challenging weekend and one to move on from,\u201d he said in Ferrari\u2019s post-race debrief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe weren\u2019t able to make the progress we hoped for but I\u2019m grateful for the effort everyone in the team put in throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now we head into the break. I\u2019ll be using the time to reset, recharge and come back stronger. I\u2019m not where I want to be yet, but the fight\u2019s not over \u2013 don\u2019t count me out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brundle Questions Future Longevity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brundle expressed doubts over whether Hamilton could continue at this level for two more seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s painful to observe this great champion in so much strife, and we have to expect that he can weather the storm and return to form given his talent and experience, but otherwise I simply can\u2019t see him enduring two more seasons at Ferrari, or anywhere else, like this,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ferrari\u2019s Wider Struggles<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was not just Hamilton who suffered in Budapest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Leclerc took pole position but saw his race unravel after a second pit stop and a late penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ongoing issues with tyre pressures and chassis sensitivity remain a major concern for the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
