During the Belgian Grand Prix, Wolff was questioned about the situation in an interview with Sky Sports’ Martin Brundle, who asked why Russell had not yet signed a new contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brundle remarked, \u201cIt must be so embarrassing for him to keep having to turn up at Grands Prix justifying himself when he\u2019s doing such a good job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wolff, however, deflected the idea that Mercedes was to blame for the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instead, he pointed to the media for creating a narrative around the contract discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s more that you guys make a lot of pressure because it\u2019s an interesting topic,\u201d Wolff said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s completely normal, we have those negotiations and those discussions, every driver wants to have a better car and more money, completely normal behaviour, and that\u2019s not going to be the crucial point.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
