Browse the latest F1 job vacancies<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite being a regular points scorer, Ocon was released at the conclusion of the 2018 season and replaced by Stroll&#8217;s son, Lance Stroll.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ocon was left without a seat for 2019, much to Mercedes&#8217; frustration, with him having been the Silver Arrows&#8217; reserve driver that year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thankfully for his career, Mercedes managed to get a move to Renault on the cards for Ocon, with him having replaced Nico Hulkenberg in 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He&#8217;s remained with the French side ever since, who are now, of course, known as Alpine following a successful rebrand ahead of the 2021 season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since joining the Enstone-based side, Ocon has become a multiple-time podium finisher and an F1 race winner, with his sole victory to-date having come at the 2021 Qatar Grand Prix. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remarkably, Mercedes continue to look after Ocon despite him having not featured in their colours or in one of their customers colours for four years, with Lagrue stressing that the Brackley-based team &#8220;always try&#8221; to get Ocon the very best. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s still very linked to us,\u201d Lagrue told The Race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s an Alpine driver, and he&#8217;s fully committed to Alpine, but we&#8217;re still managing his career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Christian Horner fires huge Adrian Newey warning <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/H2QRFu0ECn\">https:\/\/t.co\/H2QRFu0ECn<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Formula1News.co.uk (@Formula1newsUK) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Formula1newsUK\/status\/1745458628755325395?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 11, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/max-verstappen-beating-red-bull-in-a-mclaren-impossible\/\">Max Verstappen beating Red Bull in a McLaren \u2018impossible\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There are only 20 seats in Formula 1, and we are in a way pretty much all collaborating in the best interests of the sport.
