Browse the latest F1 job vacancies<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What gives Lawson the edge over Vesti is that he&#8217;s already a proven F1 points finisher and has previously progressed to Q3, something he achieved earlier this year at the Singapore Grand Prix. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, Lawson qualified ahead of both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez at the Marina Bay Circuit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kiwi is viewed very highly by Red Bull and is almost certain to get a seat at AlphaTauri in 2025 or perhaps even earlier depending on how Sergio Perez performs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perez is set to enter 2024 as a Red Bull driver, with the Austrians keen to respect his contract. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it&#8217;s been reported that Red Bull wouldn&#8217;t be afraid to drop the Mexican mid-season next year, if he fails to perform consistently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Should this happen, then Daniel Ricciardo would be the favourite to be promoted from the sister team, opening up a spot at the Faenza-based side for Lawson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s no guarantee though, that Perez will be dropped mid-2024, meaning that it would be a &#8220;gamble&#8221; for Lawson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it&#8217;s a gamble Chandhok expects Lawson to take, with the former driver tipping the 21-year-old to reject an offer from Williams if one is presented to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Team principals summoned amid \u2018Gogglegate\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/VRhHuvvOjJ\">https:\/\/t.co\/VRhHuvvOjJ<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Formula1News.co.uk (@Formula1newsUK) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Formula1newsUK\/status\/1728824363707924851?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 26, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/max-verstappen-gets-booed\/\">Max Verstappen gets booed<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t think Lawson will take the Williams opportunity because he genuinely is keeping an eye on that Red Bull thing,&#8221; Chandhok told the Sky Sports F1 podcast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;What happens? Do they start the season with Checo? If that doesn&#8217;t work out, do they stick Daniel in the Red Bull? In which case, do they put Liam in the AlphaTauri?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;From Liam&#8217;s standpoint, he&#8217;s going, &#8216;Hang on a second, I might take this gamble here and not upset the Red Bull family&#8217;.
