{"id":2927,"date":"2020-11-08T17:41:47","date_gmt":"2020-11-08T17:41:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/?p=2927"},"modified":"2020-11-08T17:42:52","modified_gmt":"2020-11-08T17:42:52","slug":"renault-not-overconfident-in-best-of-the-rest-fight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/renault-not-overconfident-in-best-of-the-rest-fight\/","title":{"rendered":"Renault Not Overconfident In \u2018Best Of The Rest\u2019 Fight"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With Scuderia Ferrari way down in sixth in the table and a number of teams fielding relatively well-matched packages, the battle for third in this year\u2019s Constructors\u2019 Championship is the closest it has been in years.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Renault, led by two impressive podiums from Daniel Ricciardo, have a one-point advantage over both Racing Point and McLaren who are level on 134 points apiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/f-the-oil-money-fans-react-to-the-2021-saudi-arabian-gp\/\">\u2018F*** The Oil Money\u2019: Fans React To The 2021 Saudi Arabian GP<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Renault seems to have found its rhythm in the latter half of the season, Ricciardo believes it will be a challenge for them to maintain third in the standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically, the Australian driver said: \u201cI think our development\u2019s helped us and I\u2019m sure we\u2019re very close now but probably raw performance, I\u2019d probably still say [Racing Point] have an edge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This sentiment was echoed by Alan Permane, Renault\u2019s sporting director, who said: \u201cUnfortunately, [Racing Point\u2019s] car is the quickest of the three,\u201d but went on to clarify, \u201cI think it\u2019s a little bit circuit-dependent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Renault\u2019s second driver, Esteban Ocon, also believes that the pecking order is track-dependent, stating: \u201cWe\u2019ve shown, especially more recently, we are quick at a number of different circuits as well as in varying conditions.
