Formula 1 has been increasingly embracing the US market in recent years, adding two new American races to the calendar in as many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sport\u2019s officials have been keen to take advantage of the growing fan base across America, driven, in part, by the rise in popularity of the Netflix show \u2018Drive to Survive.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Miami Grand Prix was added to the calendar last year, joining the Circuit of the Americas, with a street race in Las Vegas debuting in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formula 1\u2019s bosses have made no secret of their pleasure at seeing the sport finally break into the US market after years of trying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sport\u2019s popularity across the pond was visible in Miami, with a star-studded event culminating in a pre-race spectacle that saw each driver individually introduced to the sound of an orchestra and fireworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Formula 1\u2019s increased interest in America comes with its benefits, there are those who fear that it could be abandoning its traditional roots, changing into a spectacle, rather than a sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNow with Liberty Media at the helm, we have finally managed to get America behind Formula 1,\u201d former F1 driver Gerhard Berger told ServusTV. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
