{"id":15618,"date":"2022-09-28T20:56:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T19:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/?p=15618"},"modified":"2022-09-28T20:49:04","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T19:49:04","slug":"christian-horner-assesses-red-bulls-junior-talents-as-pierre-gasly-looks-to-join-alpine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/christian-horner-assesses-red-bulls-junior-talents-as-pierre-gasly-looks-to-join-alpine\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian Horner assesses Red Bull\u2019s junior talents as Pierre Gasly looks to join Alpine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, believes that the team\u2019s junior programme remains a strong one despite one or two \u201cunderwhelming\u201d performances in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liam Lawson, Juri Vips, Jehan Daruvala, Ayumu Iwasa, and Dennis Hauger have all been plying their trade in Formula 2 as part of the Red Bull system this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Formula 3, Isaac Hadjar has out in some superb performances, while Jonny Edgar has been a standout driver since his return from Crohn\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vips was given a Friday practice outing with the Austrian team in Barcelona, and he stared 2022 as their test and reserve driver, but was dropped after an incident in which he used a racial slur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Juri-Vips-suspended-for-racial-slur.v1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11582\" srcset=\"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Juri-Vips-suspended-for-racial-slur.v1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Juri-Vips-suspended-for-racial-slur.v1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Juri-Vips-suspended-for-racial-slur.v1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Juri-Vips-suspended-for-racial-slur.v1-720x480.jpg 720w, https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Juri-Vips-suspended-for-racial-slur.v1-480x320.jpg 480w, https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Juri-Vips-suspended-for-racial-slur.v1.jpg 1207w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>READ: <a href=\"https:\/\/formula1news.co.uk\/christian-horner-explains-why-he-was-shocked-by-red-bulls-2022-car\/\">Christian Horner explains why he was shocked by Red Bull\u2019s 2022 car<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hadjar is set to be promoted to F2 next year along with the rest of the junior talent, none of whom are expected to be moved up to Formula 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daruvala is the highest-placed driver in the F2 champion heading into the final round in Abu Dhabi in December, and fifth may yet become third, depending on how results play out at the Yas Marina Circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All in all though, adviser, Dr Helmut Marko, is not entirely pleased with the way his juniors have performed, and even if Pierre Gasly leaves for Alpine next year, drivers outside the pool, such as Nyck de Vries, ae being considered to replace him at AlphaTauri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nonetheless, Horner is satisfied with where the junior programme is at the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYeah it is [in a good place],\u201d he told Tom Clarkson on the Beyond the Grid Podcast.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are continuing to invest in youth, we\u2019ve got some great youngsters in the programme, all the way from karting or stepping into Formula 4 for now, upwards.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnd I think it\u2019s something that Red Bull have done so well, is giving these kids a chance, investing in young talent and giving opportunities that otherwise they wouldn\u2019t have had.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 48-year-old pinpoints Iwasa as the cream of the crop in F2 this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a few guys, I mean, Isaac Hadjar in Formula 3 this year has had a great debut season. I think Iwasa in in F2 has been a standout driver for me,\u201d explained Horner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSo they\u2019re just two of the guys, on the programme.
