Mexican driver Sergio Perez<\/a> is confident that he will be retained by Racing Point next year, when the team will be re-branded Aston Martin Racing<\/a>, despite reports that Sebastian Vettel<\/a> could replace him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, Perez said he is \u201creally happy\u201d at Racing Point and believes the team has a strong future in Formula 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We all feel internally that everything is working well. We don’t see the reason why we should change anything,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don’t see any reason to change. I think we are enjoying a great season on-track, and things are working really well in the team. I don’t expect any change.”  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once rumours emerged that Sebastian Vettel could be replacing Perez next year, interest in the Mexican driver\u2019s services was shown from another F1 constructor and teams in other racing series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, when asked if he is currently in touch with other teams for a drive in 2021, Perez said, \u201cNo. The feedback that I get from within the team is that we all want to continue.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elaborating, he said, “All the feedback that I get, it’s really positive, so I stay with that, and that’s where my confidence comes from, and where we stay calm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s a situation that is out of my hands, so I don’t even bother at all. I focus on racing, enjoy it, and whatever happens, it’s out of my hands, so I don’t even give attention to it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, it was rumoured that Vettel would sign a contract with Racing Point<\/a> at the Belgian Grand Prix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, fresh reports from the paddock indicate he won\u2019t be signing a contract<\/a> with the Lawrence Stroll-owned team this weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
