Ferrari<\/a> will continue with its appeal against Racing Point<\/a> despite Renault withdrawing earlier this week, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Italian constructor \u2013 which has had a torrid start to the 2020 F1 season \u2013 will reportedly press on with its appeal in the hopes of getting the copied rear brake ducts banned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renault<\/a> was the first team to raise questions about the legality of the Racing Point RP20 after it was unveiled in winter testing. The car\u2019s resemblance to the 2019 Mercedes W11 quickly led to it being dubbed the \u201cPink Mercedes\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, the FIA<\/a> fined Racing Point \u20ac400,000 and docked them 15 points in the Constructors\u2019 Championship after it determined the rear brake ducts had been illegally developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the FIA didn\u2019t prohibit them from continuing to run the illegally designed brake ducts on their cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Racing Point subsequently lodged an appeal, insisting it hadn\u2019t done anything wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, a cluster of other teams also filed an appeal, calling for a harsher penalty and a further clarification of the rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, Renault announced that they had withdrawn their appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the French works team said, \u201cThe controversy of the start of this season should be put behind us, as we need to focus on the remainder of an intense and unique championship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
